How to Brief a Video Production House (Template Included)
চা নিয়ে বসুন — ৪ মিনিটের পড়া ☕
The quality of your final video is decided before a single frame is shot — in the brief. A great brief gets you accurate quotes, faster treatments, and a film that actually does its job. Here is exactly what to include, with a template you can copy.
Why most briefs fail
Vague briefs (“we need a nice video”) force production houses to guess — and guessing produces generic work and padded quotes. The clients who get the best films are the ones who brief the best.
The 10 things every brief needs
1. Your objective. What should this video achieve? Sales, awareness, recruitment, fundraising — one primary goal.
2. Your audience. Who is watching, and where? A TVC audience and a LinkedIn audience need different films.
3. The core message. One sentence. If you need five, you need five videos.
4. Format and length. TVC 30s? OVC 90s? Documentary? Reels series? State it — or ask us to recommend.
5. References. 2–3 videos you love (and why). This aligns taste faster than any paragraph.
6. Deliverables. Master film plus cutdowns? Subtitles in Bangla? Vertical versions? List every output.
7. Timeline. When do you need the final delivery? Work backwards — production needs weeks, not days.
8. Budget range. Yes, share it. A range lets us design the right production instead of guessing — and it never makes quotes higher, only more accurate.
9. Brand guidelines. Logo files, colors, fonts, tone of voice, do’s and don’ts.
10. Decision process. Who approves, and how many rounds of feedback? Name it now to avoid surprises later.
